Book No. 1 : Ikigai - The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life !!

This is the 1st Book you get with "My Habit Buddy" & the 2nd one is "Atomic Habits" along with the other products to help you build "Top 12 Habits" of successful people in one year.

The people of Japan believe that everyone has an ikigai – a reason to jump out of bed each morning. And according to the residents of the Japanese island of Okinawa – the world’s longest-living people – "finding it is the key to a longer and more fulfilled life."

Inspiring and comforting, this book will give you the life-changing tools to uncover your personal ikigai. It will show you how to leave urgency behind, find your purpose, nurture friendships and throw yourself into your passions.

Key Notes to Remember from this Book :

  • In order to be truly happy with your life you need to achieve "IKIGAI", you need to be spending your time doing "something that you love", "that you can get better at", "that pays well" & "that the world needs."

Without all four, you will always feel like you're missing something inside of you.

  • Your meaningful life is not a destination you have to get to, your meaningful life is something you can enjoy right now at any time you want to.

  • On Page No. 112 all the people who were 100 years & above were interviewed & were asked that your life is so beautiful, you are so happy & healthy, you have glow on your face, what explains this & how its possible ??

And they came up with this list of 5 :
  1. "Don't Worry" :
They say "The secret to a long life is not to worry & to keep your heart young. Don't let it grow old."
Ankur Sir : Something which we are often told, and we know this is our mind & heart that whenever we get worried about something it only reduces our overall health.

It is beautifully said by Seneca, who is a very famous Greek Philosopher that :
"We suffer more in imagination than we do in reality."

  2. "Cultivate Good Habits" :
And these good habits are those habits which will help you in your life. Eating good food, physical exercises, reading everyday, fulfilling or following a hobby, meeting good people, surrounding yourself with good ideas.

All of these are great habits that the famous & very old wise people of okinawa shared with the interviewers.

  3. "Nurture your friendships every single day" :
Ankur Sir : I will expand this a bit to say, nurture your relationships every day. Relationships add a lot of meaning to our lives. And if those relationships make us happy, improve us, make us learn something new about ourselves, then those friendships or relationships take us far ahead, so never forget to invest in them.

  4. "Live an Unhurried Life" :
Ankur Sir : In life don't do things in a hurry because whenever we are in a hurried mode we end up getting stressed, we become anxious, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves.

And society tells us this only that finish your studies quickly, get a job fast, get married quickly, have kids quickly & so on. It becomes this rat race that we are part of which sucks the joy out of our life which you don't want to do.

  5. "Be Optimistic" :
No matter how many problems you have, just be optimistic. Believe that there is something that will come out of it.

"Everyday I say to myself : Today will be full of health & energy. Live it to the fullest."

When you go through the above 5 learnings, you realise that life is very simple & beautiful but yes whenever we are in trouble we have to go back to something that is foundational.

And this concept of ikigai, the combination of things that you are good at, things that you love, things that the world needs, things that will make you money, that is ultimately how we have to figure out our life.
